Srinagar: Family members, friends and members of the business and civil society of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday observed the first death anniversary of noted entrepreneur and philanthropist Late Haji Abdul Rashid Ghani, remembering him as a man of integrity, humility and quiet leadership whose contributions left a lasting imprint on the region’s social and economic life.
On the occasion, dua-e-majlis were organised across several prominent business and civil platforms, including the Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club (JKHC), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK), and various civil society bodies. Special prayers were also held at revered religious sites, including Baha-ud-Din Ganj Baksh, Asar-e-Sharif, Kailashpora, Peer Dastgeer Rahbab Sahib, and Khanqah-e-Moula Shahi Hamdan, reflecting the widespread respect he commanded across diverse sections of society.
A Quran Khawani was also held at his residence, Ghani Manzil, Baghi Ali Mardan, where family members and well-wishers gathered to pray for his maghfirat and eternal peace. The gathering provided an opportunity for those present to recall his compassion, wisdom and lifelong commitment to community welfare.
Widely regarded as a respected businessman with a strong philanthropic spirit, Haji Abdul Rashid Ghani was known for combining business acumen with generosity and a deep sense of social responsibility. Members of the business fraternity recalled his role as a mentor and guide, while community members remembered his unwavering support for social and spiritual causes.
As prayers concluded, speakers noted that although he is no longer present, his values and contributions continue to inspire the business and social community of Jammu and Kashmir. The gathering ended with collective prayers for his elevation in Jannah and for strength and patience for his family and loved ones.
