J&K Govt Places 29 Senior Prosecuting Officers as In-Charge Chief Prosecuting Officers

Srinagar, May 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has placed 29 Senior Prosecuting Officers as In-Charge Chief Prosecuting Officers in the Prosecution Department on a temporary basis.

According to Government Order No. 313-Home of 2026, issued by the Home Department on May 30, the officers will hold charge in their own pay and grade for a period of six months or until the posts are filled on a regular basis through recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) or the Public Service Commission (PSC), whichever is earlier.

The order was issued following a proposal from the Directorate General of Prosecution and approved by the Home Department.

The officers placed as In-Charge Chief Prosecuting Officers include Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Yogesh Bamba, Rajesh Kumar Khajuria, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, Puja Nijhon, Rohini Manhas, Anil Saini, Jaipal Singh, Mohammad Wajhat Jamil, Mansoor Ahmad, Arvind Rothore, Riyaz Ahmad, Vikram Singh Parihar, Shahid Mustafa, Nawang Nurbu, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Rajeev Thappa, Raj Kumar-I, Anoop Kumar, Joginder Lal, Ashwani Kumar, Riyaz Ahmad (ST), Sunil Kumar, Tsering Phuntsog, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Raj Kumar-II, Mohammad Syed, Mohd Ajmal and Mohammad Shafi Baba.

The government clarified that the arrangement has been made purely in the interest of administration and on a stop-gap basis. It stated that the placements would not confer any preferential right on the officers for promotion, which will be governed strictly under the Jammu and Kashmir Prosecution Service Recruitment Rules, 2020.

The order further noted that the placements would remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts or tribunals.

The order was issued by Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti, by order of the Lieutenant Governor.
