Srinagar, Nov 15: The Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Saturday expressed profound sorrow and anguish over the tragic accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station that claimed nine lives, including police personnel, revenue officials and civilians, and left more than 30 injured.
In a statement, the CCIK said the incident has caused “immense pain across Kashmir,” leaving several families devastated and the entire community in shock.
Patron CCIK Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, noting that the tragedy has shaken the entire region. “Our heart goes to the families who lost their loved ones. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and for eternal peace to the deceased,” he said.
Chaya also paid tribute to the police and revenue officials who died while performing their duties. Emphasising the need for urgent medical attention, he said, “If anyone requires specialised treatment outside Jammu and Kashmir, they must be airlifted without delay to ensure the best possible care.”
Welcoming Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s decision to personally visit Kashmir following the tragedy, Chaya said the gesture reflects a strong message of concern and solidarity at a difficult time for the region.
He further urged the administration to ensure prompt compensation for families whose homes and properties were damaged in the blast, particularly as winter intensifies.
CCIK President Tariq Rashid Ghani also expressed deep grief, stating that the business fraternity stands firmly with the affected families. “We are saddened by this unfortunate incident, and the suffering it has caused is immeasurable. The Home Minister’s visit underscores the seriousness with which the matter is being handled,” he said.
The CCIK prayed for the swift recovery of all injured persons and called on authorities to ensure comprehensive medical care, relief, and compensation for every household affected by the tragic explosion.
