Srinagar, May 18: A delegation of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President Javid Ahmad Tenga and J&K Fruits and Vegetables Processing and Integrated Cold Chain Association on Sunday called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar and discussed issues concerning trade, industry and the horticulture processing sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation led by Bashir Ahmad Naik represented stakeholders associated with the fruits and vegetables processing and cold chain industry in Kashmir.
During the meeting, the representatives highlighted a range of concerns relating to the business environment, industrial growth and the strengthening of infrastructure required for the horticulture and food processing sectors. The delegation emphasized the importance of policy support for trade and industry, particularly in view of the region’s growing dependence on value addition, cold storage facilities and integrated supply chains for agricultural produce.
The interaction also focused on the need for improved coordination between government departments and industry bodies to facilitate ease of doing business and encourage investment in the processing sector, which plays a key role in supporting Jammu and Kashmir’s horticulture economy.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assured the delegation that the administration remains committed to addressing genuine concerns of the business community and promoting sustainable economic growth in the region.
The meeting comes at a time when trade bodies and agro-processing stakeholders in Kashmir have been advocating for greater infrastructure support, market access and policy interventions aimed at boosting employment generation and strengthening the local economy.
