Jammu: Khyber Cement has joined as a supporting partner for the “Census 2027 Summit: Shaping India’s AI-Driven Future,” reinforcing its role in Jammu and Kashmir’s digital and infrastructure transformation.

The summit, hosted by the Directorate of Census Operations for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and organised by Governance Now, brought together senior administrators, policymakers, and technology experts to deliberate on the roadmap for India’s first digital-native census.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, as the Chief Guest, while Chief Principal Census Officer Amit Sharma chaired the programme. The summit also featured participation from national and international experts focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence in governance and data systems.

Khyber Cement’s association with the summit highlights the intersection between digital advancement and physical infrastructure, as the region prepares for a major technological transition in census operations.

Umar Tramboo, Director Corporate and Strategy at Khyber Cement, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to both structural and technological progress in the Union Territory. “As the nation moves toward an AI-driven future, it is equally important to ensure that physical infrastructure remains resilient and capable of supporting this transformation,” he said.

He added that the company aims to contribute beyond its traditional industrial role by supporting initiatives that shape long-term development and technological readiness in Jammu and Kashmir.

Positioning itself as a broader development stakeholder, Khyber Cement said it is increasingly investing in areas such as sustainable urban growth and technological awareness, alongside its core infrastructure business.

The company, rooted in the Kashmir Valley and guided by its “Dil Se Banao” philosophy, reiterated its commitment to contributing to a sustainable and inclusive development trajectory for the region.

The Census 2027 exercise is expected to mark a significant shift toward digitised data collection and AI-enabled governance, making such collaborations between industry and public institutions increasingly critical.
