Centre launches integrated commerce portal, mobile app to streamline trade services

Ziraat Times News Desk

New Delhi, April 15: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched a new integrated website for the Department of Commerce, along with a mobile application, aimed at improving access to trade-related services and strengthening digital governance in India’s foreign trade ecosystem.

The platform, unveiled on April 15, is designed to provide exporters, importers and businesses with a unified interface for accessing government services, real-time trade data, and regulatory information. Officials said the initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance transparency, efficiency and ease of doing business.

Digital platform with integrated services

The new portal has been developed in line with the government’s digital standards, including the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites and Digital Brand Identity Manual. It offers a simplified interface with structured navigation, multilingual support in 22 Indian languages, and accessibility features for users with disabilities.

A bilingual mobile application (Android and iOS) has also been introduced, with features such as offline access and GPS-enabled services to improve usability for businesses operating in remote locations.

The system integrates multiple government services, including grievance redressal through CPGRAMS, parliamentary updates, and real-time trade analytics via the Trade Intelligence and Analytics (TIA) portal.

Focus on real-time data and ease of access

Officials said the platform enables real-time updates of trade data and policy information, allowing businesses to track commodity trends, export-import performance, and regulatory changes more efficiently.

The integration with social media platforms is expected to improve outreach and communication, while the content management system allows authorised officials to update information instantly.

Relevance for Jammu & Kashmir businesses

For businesses in Jammu & Kashmir, the platform could offer practical benefits, particularly for small exporters, handicraft producers, and agri-based enterprises that often face information and access gaps.

Exporters of products such as Pashmina, handicrafts, dry fruits, and horticulture goods can use the portal to:

  • Access updated export-import policies and compliance requirements

  • Track demand trends and pricing through real-time trade data

  • Identify new international markets and commodity opportunities

  • File grievances and seek clarifications through integrated systems

The multilingual interface may also help local entrepreneurs engage with the platform more easily, while the mobile app’s offline functionality could be useful in areas with limited internet connectivity.

Support for handicrafts and artisan sectors

Given the importance of handicrafts to Jammu & Kashmir’s economy, the availability of timely information on export procedures, certification requirements, and market trends could help artisans and traders improve compliance and competitiveness.

The integration of analytics tools may also assist businesses in understanding shifts in global demand, enabling better planning and diversification.

Part of broader e-governance push

The government said the initiative is part of a broader push towards digital governance in trade administration, with a focus on reducing procedural delays and improving service delivery.

Provision has been made for ongoing maintenance and upgrades to ensure the platform remains secure, scalable and responsive to user needs.

The launch comes amid efforts to strengthen India’s export ecosystem and improve institutional support for businesses navigating global markets.
