New Delhi, March 7: The final results of the Civil Services Examination 2025 were announced on Thursday by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with Anuj Agnihotri securing the top rank among 958 candidates recommended for appointment to various government services.
According to official figures, a total of 9,37,876 candidates applied for the examination, while 5,76,793 candidates appeared for the preliminary test conducted on May 25, 2025. Of these, 14,161 candidates qualified for the Main Examination held in August 2025, and 2,736 candidates advanced to the Personality Test stage. After the final selection process, 958 candidates—659 men and 299 women—were recommended for appointment to the country’s civil services.
The top five rank holders include four men and one woman. Anuj Agnihotri, who completed his MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur, secured the first rank with Medical Science as his optional subject. Rajeshwari Suve M, a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, secured second rank with Sociology as her optional subject. Akansh Dhull, a B.Com graduate from University of Delhi, secured the third rank, opting for Commerce and Accountancy.
The fourth and fifth ranks were secured by Raghav Jhunjhunwala, an Economics graduate from the University of Delhi, and Ishan Bhatnagar, a law graduate from National Law University Delhi, respectively.
Among the top 25 candidates, 11 are women and 14 are men, representing diverse academic backgrounds including engineering, humanities, science, commerce, law, medical science, and mass media. Many of these candidates graduated from premier institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology, National Law Universities, AIIMS, Delhi Technological University, Anna University, and leading universities across India.
Candidates selected in the top 25 opted for a wide range of optional subjects in the Main Examination, including Anthropology, Commerce and Accountancy, Chemistry, Economics, Electrical Engineering, History, Mathematics, Medical Science, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations, Public Administration, and Sociology.
The list of recommended candidates also includes 42 Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, comprising 10 orthopedically handicapped candidates, 14 visually challenged, 9 hearing impaired, and 9 with multiple disabilities, reflecting the inclusive nature of the selection process.
