Srinagar: The Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Hoteliers Club (JKHC), Mushtaq Ahmed Chaya, has welcomed the announcement of a two-day Mega Travel Mart in the Union Territory, describing it as a timely step that could significantly boost tourism in the Valley. The event was announced by Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and is scheduled to be held on April 14 and 15.
According to the announcement, the travel mart is expected to bring together around 250 stakeholders from more than 20 states across India, making it one of the major tourism promotion initiatives in the region in recent years.
Chaya expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister as well as the Tourism Department, including Director Tourism Kashmir Syed Qamar Sajjad, for organizing the event. He said the tourism fraternity had been eagerly waiting for such a large-scale initiative.
He noted that hosting the Mega Travel Mart at this stage could prove to be a game changer for Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism industry, helping the region attract more visitors and investment in the sector.
JKHC Secretary General Tariq Ghani said the event would enhance the visibility of the destination and create new business opportunities for stakeholders. He added that the platform would also help strengthen partnerships across the travel and hospitality sectors and contribute to the revival and growth of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
Chaya further emphasized that coordinated efforts between the government and industry players are essential to position Jammu & Kashmir as a leading travel destination for tourists from across the country and abroad.
Reiterating the industry’s support, the JKHC chairman said the hoteliers’ body and tourism stakeholders would stand “shoulder to shoulder” with the Chief Minister in making the Mega Travel Mart a success.
