SRINAGAR: The Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) has welcomed the government’s decision to reopen several tourist destinations, including Aru Valley, describing it as a positive development for the region’s tourism sector.
In a statement issued on Friday, TAAK President Farooq Kuthoo said the move sends a “strong and encouraging message” to domestic and international travelers and would help restore the confidence of tourists and stakeholders.
At the same time, Kuthoo urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to prioritize the reopening of more offbeat destinations such as Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, Tosamaidan, and Baisaran, which he said could significantly diversify the tourist experience in Kashmir.
“These lesser-known yet beautiful places hold immense potential and need to be made accessible again,” Kuthoo stressed. He added that reopening all closed tourist spots would not only revive the tourism economy but also attract more visitors to the Valley, many of whom remain hesitant due to recent restrictions and safety concerns.
The TAAK reaffirmed its support for initiatives aimed at strengthening Kashmir’s tourism profile, calling for continued efforts to ensure the sector’s sustainable revival.
