Srinagar – Shahre Khass Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee and Federations (SKTMCCF) has raised concerns over what it calls ‘excessive charges deducted by J&K Bank under various categories.’ In a press release today issued to Ziraat Times, Imtiyaz Ahmad Malik, President expressed that SKTMCCF has been receiving numerous complaints from account holders who report deductions under multiple headings, such as account maintenance fees, SMS charges, statement fees (both hard copy and email), ATM fees, and cheque book charges.
Malik emphasized the frustration among business owners who find these deductions unaffordable and unjustified, especially as other banks provide these services at no cost and with minimal inconvenience. He noted that while other banks reverse such charges promptly upon a simple phone request, J&K Bank has been unresponsive to customer appeals, leaving account holders in difficult situations.
“Kashmir’s economy is already struggling, and placing additional financial burdens on businesses through these charges is deeply detrimental,” said Malik. “We call on J&K Bank to reverse these deductions immediately and ensure transparency in its relationship with customers to support sustainable business growth in the region.”
Malik concluded by urging J&K Bank to reconsider its current practices and end what he described as an undue financial strain on customers, emphasizing that the bank must adopt customer-friendly policies to build trust and encourage economic progress.
