Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026: J&K businesses to showcase products, crafts

New Delhi, August 8: The Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 (BVM 2026), jointly organised by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), is set to bring more than 700 exhibitors from across the country together with domestic and international buyers at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the four-day Mahotsav on August 12, CAIT Secretary General and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal announced at a press conference in New Delhi.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and CAIT Strategic Advisor Smriti Irani are also expected to attend the inauguration, alongside several Union ministers, senior government officials, industry leaders and international trade delegations.

According to CAIT, business buyers and delegations from more than 40 countries are expected to participate, potentially giving the event an international dimension beyond its focus on Indian enterprises.

Khandelwal said the Mahotsav is aligned with the government’s broader vision of “Vocal for Local”, “Local to Global” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, and is intended to provide manufacturers, traders, startups, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, artisans and service providers with opportunities to access new markets and buyers.

He described BVM 2026 as the largest “Made in India” business exposition, with the event dedicated exclusively to Indian products, services, technologies and innovations.

The programme will include Buyer-Seller Meets, B2B and B2G networking sessions, export promotion dialogues, investment discussions, startup showcases, technology demonstrations and sector-specific panel discussions.

The exhibition will bring traditional and emerging sectors together, with GI-tagged products, handicrafts, handloom goods, rural enterprises and traditional industries to be showcased alongside digital commerce, fintech, artificial intelligence, logistics, green technologies and advanced manufacturing.

The organisers said dedicated initiatives would include an “Ability Expo” for entrepreneurs with disabilities, a “Nari Vandan Pavilion” highlighting women-led enterprises and a Startup Hub showcasing new technologies and innovations.

Khandelwal said the Mahotsav was intended not merely as a trade exhibition but as a platform to generate business partnerships, expand market access, strengthen supply chains, encourage import substitution and promote exports.

He said the event could also help Indian enterprises integrate more closely with global value chains and contribute to India’s emergence as a major manufacturing and export hub.

The organisers expect the event to generate economic activity across trade, investment, tourism, hospitality, transport, logistics and other services, with potential benefits for employment and business growth.

“Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav is not merely an event; it is a celebration of India’s entrepreneurial spirit,” Khandelwal said, describing it as a platform to showcase Indian enterprise and strengthen the country’s pursuit of becoming a developed economy and global economic power.

J&K businesses to get global exposure

CAIT Kashmir Chapter President Farhan Kitab said the Mahotsav could provide businesses from Jammu & Kashmir with an opportunity to showcase their products, traditional crafts, GI-tagged products and entrepreneurial capabilities before national and international buyers.

He said participation in the event could help J&K businesses explore new markets, investment opportunities, tourism linkages and commercial partnerships, while strengthening their integration with wider Indian and global markets.
