Srinagar: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Kashmir, at its crucial State-Level Executive Committee Meeting today announced setting up of “J&K Business Recovery Task Force”. The Task Force will address key business recovery issues and will develop strategies for rebuilding the trade and commerce of Kashmir.
“The lockdown-like situation from Aug 2019 has resulted in significant disruption of business and community activity. In the wake of this the PHD Chamber Kashmir have convened a Bussiness Recovery Task Forces to address the key Bussiness Recovery Issues”, the chamber said in a statement here.
Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, while announcing the Task Force of PHD Chamber Kashmir said that the Business Recovery Task Fore has been formed to support the business community of J&K throughout the journey of business disruption.
“The Task Force aims to address the unique challenges that this crisis has imposed on not only the individual businesses but also on local big and small businesses of all sectors. The Task Force will take up issues of business disruption in J&K with Central Government and State Administration and will devise a plan towards recovery and self-sustenance of major economic activities of Kashmir”, Mr Chaya said adding that “our business community doesn’t just need fiscal support only, it needs a roadmap to rebuild and recover from this crisis. Our local economy was strong before and with the right plan it can regain that strength again.”
“The last few years have been extremely difficult for Kashmir and local community,” said PHD Chamber Chairman Baldev Singh Raina in the meeting.
“As a leader in your respective industry, your insights and experience will help us identify how to best support local businesses, industries and organizations as we transition from the pandemic emergency and focus on the path forward. We have had floods, we have had major things happened and as a community we know just as well how strongly will recover”, he said.
The Chamber also launched the “MSME Mentoring and Guidance Centre” that will handhold entrepreneurs.
While launching the MSME Guidance Cell Mr Raina said, “as all of us know, COVID-19 had a very bad impact on the businesses and the MSMEs have been impacted in managing their operations. Many of the MSMEs are approaching our Chamber at various levels to seek help and guidance on the benefits of 3 Lakh Crore package announced by the Government of India and the consequent amendment of the definition of MSMEs. Provision of all these services and assistance involves expenditure for the Chamber and in order to cover these costs a new Membership Scheme for those MSMEs & Individuals who wish to start their small enterprises, who otherwise are not eligible to become regular members to make them members of the MSME Mentoring and Guidance Centre.”
There will be quite a large number of MSMEs, students and other unemployed persons who would require knowledge and guidance about entrepreneurship and how to start a new business venture or how to scale-up their existing business enterprises. These MSMEs and Individuals are the potential target for making them members of the MSME Mentoring and Guidance Centre.
The chamber is open for the membership of MSME Mentoring and Guidance Centre that will provide complete handholding of existing and new entrepreneurs from our state experts and consultants and experts from Head Office. The meeting also had thorough deliberations amid current economic scenario among the EC Members comprising of Mr Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo, Mr Showket Chowdhary, Mr Jan Muhammad Kaul, Mr Nasir Shah, Mr Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, Mr Tariq Rashid Ghani, Mr Humayun Wani, Mr Shahijehan, Mr Showket Mirani, Ms Qaiser Mir, Ms Shahana Fatima , Mr Baber Chowdhary and Iqbal Fayaz Jan.
