J&K Assembly rejects bill seeking mandatory govt education for public servants’ children

Srinagar, September 24: The Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly has rejected a Private Members’ Bill moved by Langate MLA Sheikh Khursheed seeking to make it mandatory for public representatives and government servants to educate their children in government educational institutions.

The bill proposed that public men and government employees be required to enrol their children in government-run schools and other educational institutions.

  5. It’s striking that the J&K Assembly rejected the Private Members’ Bill by Langate MLA Sheikh Khursheed, which would have required public representatives and government servants to enrol their children in government-run schools. The idea clearly aims to make policymakers personally invested in the quality of state education, though opponents likely worry about practical feasibility and fairness. Still, the debate raises a genuine question: if public servants won’t trust government institutions with their own children, how can citizens be expected to? For those who enjoy testing their own knowledge the way legislators test policy, krillion game unlimited turns that daily challenge into a scoring pursuit. Without structural accountability, though, such symbolic bills will keep getting rejected while government schools languish.
