Srinagar, August 9: Six students of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) have been selected for fully funded research internships under the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP).
The students were selected after multiple rounds of screening and international interviews, with the university stating that their selection reflects their academic merit, research aptitude and technical competence.
The selected students include four undergraduates and two postgraduate scholars who will undertake internships at three leading Taiwanese universities — National Changhua University of Education (NCUE), National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), and National Dong Hwa University (NDHU).
Dhirender and Navneet Singh from the Faculty of Horticulture have been selected for research at NCUE. Nitish Kumar, Kartik Duneria and Fatima Jaan will undertake their internships at NPUST, while Sabyasachi Mukherjee has been selected for an internship at NDHU.
During the programme, the students will work in advanced research laboratories, interact with scientists and gain exposure to emerging technologies and research practices. The university said the internships are also expected to contribute to strengthening academic and research collaborations between SKUAST-K and Taiwanese institutions.
Congratulating the students and their mentors, the Vice-Chancellor said the achievement was a matter of pride for the university. He said international exposure would help students acquire advanced scientific knowledge, cross-cultural understanding and broader global perspectives, enabling them to contribute more effectively to contemporary agricultural and environmental challenges.
The Vice-Chancellor also reiterated the university’s commitment to expanding international academic opportunities and strengthening collaborations aimed at promoting innovation and research excellence.
SKUAST-K said the students’ selection would enhance the university’s international academic visibility while supporting its objective of developing globally competitive graduates and advancing sustainable agricultural development through international cooperation.
