Srinagar, August 11: Mohammad Anwar Ashai, son of late Khawaja Ghulam Ahmed Ashai and a distinguished engineer and student activist of yester years passed away at his residence at Raj Bagh, Srinagar, on Monday morning. He was reported to have passed away at around 10 am.
His Namaz-e-Janazah will be offered at his residence in Raj Bagh at 5:45 pm today.
The news of his demise has evoked grief among colleagues, friends and members of Kashmir’s professional and business community, with several prominent figures remembering him for his professional integrity, activism for social justice, strong character and contribution to the engineering fraternity.
Shakeel Qalander, prominent businessman and former president of FCIK, described Ashai as an “esteemed colleague” and a “legendary” personality, expressing profound grief over his passing.
Former civil servant, eminent historian and author Jalal-ud-din Shah also condoled the demise, remembering Ashai as a valued colleague and extending prayers for the departed soul.
