Jammu, June 13: Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Jammu, Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Saturday inspected the ongoing Gurdaspur–Jammu Natural Gas Pipeline Project and reviewed progress on the associated City Gate Stations (CGSs) at Vijaypur and Bishnah.
During the inspection, the Director assessed the status of the pipeline infrastructure and ongoing works at the two City Gate Stations, which form a key part of the project aimed at strengthening the region’s energy network.
Deputy General Manager (Construction), GAIL (India) Limited, Kumar Rahul briefed the Director on the technical aspects of the project, its current progress and the expected completion timeline. He informed that the project, being executed at an estimated cost of ₹237 crore in Jammu and Kashmir, is targeted for completion by July 2026.
Shavan emphasised the significance of the project in enhancing energy infrastructure in the Jammu region and facilitating the future supply of clean and efficient natural gas to households, commercial establishments and industries.
He stressed the need for maintaining quality standards, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and completing the work within the stipulated timeframe.
During the visit, the Director also interacted with officials of Indian Oil Corporation Limited and advised them to closely monitor pending land acquisition cases and utility shifting issues to ensure that work beyond Vijaypur commences without delay.
Senior officers of the FCS&CA Department and representatives of the executing agency accompanied the Director during the inspection.
