Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave celebrates resilience, return and community revival

Ziraat Times Team Report

Srinagar, June 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon members of the Kashmiri Pandit community across the globe to contribute to Jammu & Kashmir’s development by establishing industries, academic institutions and cultural centres in the Union Territory.

Addressing the Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave in Srinagar, attended by prominent members of the Kashmiri Pandit diaspora from India and abroad, Sinha described the gathering as a celebration of the community’s resilience, achievements and return to its roots.

“A moment of transformation is here. Those once uprooted from their homeland return and this homecoming is the truest victory,” the Lieutenant Governor said, adding that the presence of business leaders, entrepreneurs, technology experts and cultural figures reflected growing confidence in the peace and stability of Jammu & Kashmir.

The LG said the conclave honoured the Kashmiri Pandit community’s patience and resilience while laying the foundation for the return and rehabilitation of community members in the Valley.

Referring to the community’s displacement during the 1990s, Sinha said the journey of Kashmiri Pandits had been marked by “genocide, exile and struggle”, but noted that the community transformed its suffering into strength and achievement.

“Lives marked by pain and struggle gave the Kashmiri Pandit community only two choices—despair or rebuilding. They chose creation, rebuilding and selfless service and in doing so made history,” he said.

Highlighting the contributions of Kashmiri Pandits in various fields, the Lieutenant Governor said the community had earned global recognition through excellence in technology, finance, medicine, arts, education and public service.

Calling for greater investment in Jammu & Kashmir, Sinha urged distinguished members of the community to establish industries and institutions that would preserve their heritage while creating opportunities for future generations.

The Lieutenant Governor said discussions during the conclave on building global industries, institutions and a shared economic future in Jammu & Kashmir would serve as blueprints for cultural revival, economic empowerment and community restoration. He also asserted that the return of Kashmiri Pandits symbolised the emergence of a “new Jammu & Kashmir” after 2019 and credited the administration under Prime Minister Narendra Modi with transforming the region into a centre of reconstruction and development.

The conclave featured several sessions where distinguished speakers and members of the Kashmiri Pandit community shared their experiences, achievements and perspectives on the future of the community.

Among those present were Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister; Uphaar Kotru, President of the Kashmiri Overseas Association; Utpal Kaul, International Coordinator of the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora; Ashwani Bhat, President of the Kashmiri Pandit Association Mumbai; Sanjay Koul, President of the All Minority Employees Association Kashmir; Autar Krishan Trakroo, social activist and Organising Secretary of Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra; Dileep Mattoo, President of the Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch; and R. K. Bhat, President of the Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj.

Senior officers of the police and civil administration, prominent citizens, youth representatives and a large number of members of the Kashmiri Pandit community also attended the conclave.

  1. Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a very well written article.
I will be sure to bookmark it and return to read more of your useful information. Thanks for
    the post. I’ll certainly return.

  2. My name is Mike, a normal American guy, and in the year 2018 I accidentally discovered one of the most bizarre sports I had ever seen: CarJitsu.

In case this sounds unfamiliar, don’t worry.
The entire concept sounds like something invented after a crazy bet.
Two athletes climb inside a tiny automobile and try to score positions against
each other while being trapped between the cramped interior.
Believe it or not. In most sports you have a ring, but in CarJitsu your battlefield
is the inside of a vehicle. This is what shocked me
    the first time.

There are organized competitions, tournaments, championships, and special events.
Participants gather from various regions and try
to prove who can master the unusual format. Different from most athletic competitions, every movement is limited by the
tight space. That creates hilarious moments. One second someone looks like a champion, and the next second they are trapped near the steering wheel.

During those days I was heavily interested in competitive
sports. I watched many sports events every week. I also spent time reading about sportsbook odds.
Many sports fans I knew compared sportsbook offers.
Sometimes names like the sportsbook 1xbet would appear in conversations about major sporting
events, although CarJitsu was usually too strange to be the main topic.

One night I saw a crazy highlight reel online. Initially I believed it was a joke.
Grown adults were trying to grapple inside a parked car while spectators
were watching in disbelief. I laughed so hard that coffee nearly came out of
my nose. Yet the more I watched, the more fascinated I became.

Soon after that, I found a local event and decided to watch in person. The event was unforgettable.
There were fans discussing athletic techniques and sports culture.
Some people even joked about which athlete would be the favorite if a sports betting market
ever offered odds on the matches.

Eventually I wanted to participate. I signed up
for beginner training. My first session was
a disaster. I hit my head on the roof, got stuck near a seat, and accidentally opened a door
at the worst possible moment. Even I laughed at myself.
    Yet I kept coming back.

Week after week, I improved. I learned how to use technique and movement.
The cramped cabin became my arena. Soon I was entering small tournaments.
My friends thought I was completely crazy. Whenever someone asked what sport I practiced, the conversation usually went
    like this:

    “CarJitsu.”

    “What is that?”

    “Imagine wrestling inside a car.”

    “You’re joking.”

    “No, that’s the actual sport.”

The funniest and wildest experience happened during a
tournament a few years later. My opponent was massive.
He looked like he could lift a small house. Before the match started, he
smiled and said, “Good luck.” I knew trouble was coming.

The match began, chaos exploded. We bounced between seats, bumped into doors, and nearly
tangled ourselves in everything inside the vehicle. The crowd was roaring.
    People were laughing and shouting.

Then came the moment I will never forget.

My opponent grabbed the car seat belt and accidentally turned
it into what looked like a dangerous rope.
As we struggled for position, the belt snapped across the cabin and wrapped around me in the
strangest way imaginable. For a second I thought,
“I can’t believe this is happening”

He pulled, I twisted, the seat belt locked, the door opened
slightly, and both of us somehow ended up tangled together like
a pile of cables. The audience was laughing so hard that some
people could barely stay in their seats. It looked completely ridiculous.

For a brief moment, I genuinely thought my opponent was going
to flatten me. Fortunately, the officials quickly intervened when things became unsafe, and the situation was resolved without serious injury.
Afterward we both burst out laughing. Everyone loved it.
Even today people who were there still talk about “the seat belt incident.”

Looking back, CarJitsu remains one of the most unusual sports I
have ever experienced. It gave me great memories and incredible experiences.
Whether people are discussing athletic entertainment, very few things create reactions like CarJitsu.

When people want to hear a crazy sports story, I always
tell them about the day I climbed into a car in 2018 and accidentally
became a CarJitsu competitor. Nobody believes it at first.
But after hearing about tournaments, athletes, training sessions, sports fans, betting conversations, sportsbook discussions, and my unforgettable seat belt battle, they usually agree on one
    thing:

CarJitsu might be the craziest sport ever invented.
