Anantnag, June 4: Deposits in Anantnag district reached ₹9,697.54 crore while advances stood at ₹7,433.41 crore as of March 31, 2026, taking the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio to 79.65 per cent, officials informed during a District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner and District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed the performance of the banking sector in the district for the quarter ending March 2026 and the financial year 2025-26. It was attended by representatives of banks, RBI, NABARD, district officers and officials from various government departments.
Lead District Manager (LDM) presented a detailed review of banking performance and informed that under the District Credit Plan (DCP) for FY 2025-26, banks disbursed ₹3,314 crore under the priority sector against a target of ₹3,676.11 crore, achieving 90 per cent of the target. Lending under the non-priority sector reached ₹2,083.10 crore against a target of ₹2,025.74 crore, registering 103 per cent achievement.
Overall credit disbursement during the year stood at ₹5,397.04 crore, accounting for 95 per cent of the total annual target of ₹5,701.86 crore.
Reviewing the performance of banks, the DDC stressed the need to improve the Credit-Deposit ratio and enhance credit flow to priority sectors, particularly agriculture and allied activities. He directed banks to ensure timely and adequate credit support to farmers and appreciated the progress achieved under crop loan disbursement.
Dr Bhat also expressed concern over declining performance in certain loan segments and instructed banks to take corrective measures to improve lending and increase advances to productive sectors.
The meeting emphasised the need for greater awareness among farmers regarding agricultural credit facilities, government-sponsored schemes and crop insurance programmes. Officials also highlighted the importance of stronger coordination between banks and line departments to improve credit delivery and scheme implementation.
The DDC reviewed the progress of several government-sponsored and financial inclusion schemes, including PM SVANidhi, Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), PMEGP and Jan Dhan Yojana.
Describing social security and financial inclusion programmes as key interventions, he directed banks and concerned departments to ensure timely enrolment of all eligible beneficiaries.
He also called for streamlining credit disbursal under flagship initiatives such as HADP, Mission YUVA and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Officials informed the meeting that under Mission YUVA, loans worth ₹198.42 crore have been disbursed among 3,307 beneficiaries out of 3,784 sanctioned cases. Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, credit amounting to ₹36.13 crore has been extended to 2,143 beneficiaries.
The meeting was also informed that the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) trained 614 candidates during the year, with 529 cases settled and 313 linked to credit facilities. Five Centres for Financial Literacy conducted 299 outreach camps, facilitating 6,086 linkages.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the DDC directed banks to adopt target-driven approaches to improve performance in priority sector lending, financial inclusion and social security schemes, while strengthening coordination with line departments for overall economic growth and public welfare in the district.
