New Delhi, May 27: A delegation from the United States will visit India from June 1 to 4 for discussions on the proposed India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), the Government of India said on Tuesday.

According to an official statement issued by the Centre, the US delegation, led by the Chief Negotiator, will hold talks with Indian counterparts in New Delhi to carry forward negotiations on the proposed Interim Agreement and the broader Bilateral Trade Agreement framework between the two countries.

The discussions follow the Joint Statement issued by India and the United States on February 7, 2026, in which both sides agreed on a framework for an interim trade agreement aimed at ensuring reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade relations.

The framework also reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to continue negotiations on a comprehensive India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement.

As part of the ongoing engagement process, an Indian delegation had visited Washington, D.C. from April 20 to 23 for in-person meetings with US officials.

Officials said the upcoming round of talks in New Delhi is expected to focus on finalising details of the Interim Agreement and advancing negotiations on several key areas under the broader BTA framework.

The proposed areas of discussion include market access, non-tariff measures, customs and trade facilitation, investment promotion and economic security alignment.

The India-US trade negotiations are being viewed as a significant step towards strengthening economic and strategic ties between the world’s two largest democracies.
