National conference on Kharif campaign 2026 begins in Delhi

New Delhi, May 27: The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will hold the National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif Campaign 2026 at the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, on May 28 and 29 to deliberate on strategies for the upcoming Kharif season.

The two-day conference will be chaired and inaugurated by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the presence of State Agriculture Ministers, senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and representatives from States and Union Territories.

According to the Ministry, the conference will serve as a key platform for reviewing preparedness for the Kharif season and determining priorities for the country’s agriculture sector.

The programme will feature thematic discussions, state-wise participation, group deliberations and presentations focusing on agriculture and allied sectors.

Officials said extensive discussions would be held on issues such as Kharif preparedness, agricultural productivity, climate-resilient farming, natural farming, pulses and oilseeds production, digital agriculture, agricultural finance and risk management.

The conference aims to formulate strategies for sustainable agriculture, enhanced productivity, climate resilience, infrastructure strengthening and farmer welfare.

Deliberations during the conference will revolve around three major themes — self-reliance, diversification and production growth; sustainability and climate-resilient agriculture along with “Khet Bachao”; and infrastructure, financing and risk management.

The Ministry said States and Union Territories have been grouped for structured discussions and exchange of experiences and best practices aimed at improving agricultural productivity and resilience.

The conference will also focus on lessons emerging from zonal consultations, promotion of innovative agricultural practices, strengthening extension outreach and improving coordination between the Centre and States for effective implementation of agricultural programmes.

The Ministry said the National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif Campaign 2026 reflects the Government’s continued commitment towards building a sustainable, resilient and farmer-centric agricultural ecosystem aligned with the vision of a developed India and prosperous farmers.
