J&K Govt hikes DA for pensioners to 60% from January 2026

Ziraat Times News Desk

Srinagar, May 18: The Jammu & Kashmir government has announced a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for pensioners and family pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission, raising the rate from 58% to 60% of the basic pension/family pension with effect from January 1, 2026.

According to a government order issued by the Finance Department’s Codes Division, the revised DA rate will apply to all government pensioners and family pensioners drawing pension under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

The order stated that arrears on account of the additional DA installment for the period from January 2026 to April 2026 will be paid in cash in May 2026. The enhanced DA component will thereafter become part of the regular monthly pension and family pension from May onwards.

The government has also clarified that any fraction of a rupee arising during DA calculation will be rounded off to the next higher rupee.

The order further noted that all existing rules governing the grant of Dearness Allowance on pension and family pension, including provisions relating to pensioners who are re-employed or drawing more than one pension, will continue to remain in force as long as they are not inconsistent with the new order.

The decision has been issued in continuation of Government Order No. 273-F of 2025 dated October 28, 2025, and follows the Council of Ministers’ decision No. 065/06/2026 dated April 30, 2026.

The order was issued by the Finance Department under the authority of Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Finance Department, Shailendra Kumar.
