Enrolment Opens for National AI Skilling Program. 15,000 Scholarships Announced. Here is How to Apply

Ziraat Times Team Report

Mumbai, May 4: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, has opened enrolment for a nationwide artificial intelligence (AI) skilling programme aimed at the creative sector, offering 15,000 scholarships to aspiring professionals.

The initiative, developed in partnership with Google and YouTube, is designed to equip emerging talent in media, entertainment, animation, gaming, and digital storytelling with industry-relevant AI skills.

Officials said the programme is part of the government’s broader push to integrate advanced technologies into India’s creative economy and prepare professionals for evolving digital content ecosystems.

The skilling initiative follows a two-phase structure combining foundational learning with specialised application.

The first phase, conducted online, will provide AI literacy training to all 15,000 selected participants. This includes access to Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud’s generative AI learning pathways. Participants will undergo approximately 33 hours of training covering generative AI fundamentals, prompting techniques, and responsible AI practices. The aim is to build core understanding and problem-solving skills relevant to real-world applications.

Those who complete the foundational stage will move to the second phase, which focuses on advanced and practical learning. Delivered through a hybrid format, the specialisation phase includes project-based training in storytelling, creative production, and the use of advanced AI tools.

The curriculum for this phase has been co-developed by IICT and YouTube, incorporating platform-specific best practices to help creators improve content reach and audience engagement. Participants will also gain exposure to tools through guided modules such as Google Developers Codelabs.

The programme will be supported by an “AI Skills House” platform, which will provide structured learning tracks in areas such as generative AI applications, workflow automation, and decision-making tools.

According to officials, the initiative aims to create a pool of skilled professionals capable of leveraging AI in content creation, production, and distribution, thereby strengthening India’s position in the global creative economy.

IICT, the designated implementation partner, will oversee the nationwide rollout, including curriculum design, candidate outreach, and execution of the programme.

Speaking on the initiative, IICT Chief Executive Officer Vishwas Deoskar said the programme addresses a clear national requirement by preparing creative professionals for practical, real-world applications of AI across the content lifecycle.

The ministry has invited interested candidates to apply, noting that the programme is designed as a selective and impact-focused pathway for high-potential talent.

The initiative is expected to play a key role in bridging the gap between technology and creativity, while enabling professionals to adapt to the growing influence of AI in the media and entertainment industry.
