‘Saaz-e-Bahar’ Event showcases youth-led cultural products at Srinagar’s Sher-e-Kashmir Park

Srinagar, April 27: A vibrant celebration of youth creativity and local enterprise unfolded at Sher-e-Kashmir Park on Sunday, as “Saaz-e-Bahar” brought together young Kashmiris, entrepreneurs and artists in a dynamic display of culture and innovation.

The event, curated largely by members of the Valley’s Gen-Z community, attracted a steady stream of visitors who appreciated the initiative aimed at promoting local craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. From handmade products and traditional art forms to contemporary creative expressions, the event offered a diverse showcase of Kashmir’s evolving cultural landscape.

Visitors expressed enthusiasm at seeing young people take the lead in organising such platforms, noting that the event reflected a renewed sense of ownership and pride among the region’s youth. Many described “Saaz-e-Bahar” as a refreshing initiative that combined cultural preservation with modern entrepreneurial spirit.

PDP chief and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti also visited the event and encouraged the young entrepreneurs.

Stalls featuring local artisans and small businesses highlighted the richness of Kashmiri craftsmanship, while interactive segments and informal performances added to the festive atmosphere. Participants said the platform not only provided visibility to emerging entrepreneurs but also encouraged collaboration and idea-sharing among young creatives.

Organisers emphasised that the event was designed to create opportunities for local talent and promote a culture of self-reliance. They said such initiatives can play an important role in strengthening the grassroots economy while fostering a sense of community engagement.

The event also reflected a broader shift in how young Kashmiris are engaging with culture and business—blending tradition with innovation and using public spaces to create inclusive, community-driven experiences.
