Bengaluru, April 26: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday invited private investment in J&K’s higher education sector, highlighting new opportunities under the recently notified Jammu & Kashmir Private University Act.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, interacted with a delegation of education sector representatives in Bengaluru, where discussions focused on strengthening academic infrastructure and expanding institutional presence in J&K.
During the interaction, Abdullah urged reputed educational institutions to explore investment and collaboration opportunities in the Union Territory, emphasising the government’s vision of transforming Jammu & Kashmir into a vibrant academic hub.
He said the new policy framework aims to facilitate the establishment of private universities and enhance access to quality education and research opportunities within the region. The Chief Minister also underlined the importance of building a robust academic ecosystem that can retain local talent while attracting students and institutions from across the country.
Abdullah assured potential investors of full government support and a conducive policy environment, stating that the administration is committed to enabling partnerships that strengthen infrastructure, promote innovation, and foster global academic linkages.
Officials said the outreach is part of broader efforts by the J&K government to position the Union Territory as an emerging destination for higher education and knowledge-driven investment.
