Srinagar, April 2: Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah on Thursday reviewed the implementation of the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS) and inspected Point of Sale (POS)-enabled retail outlets across Budgam district and Srinagar.
During the visit, the Director assessed multiple fertilizer sale points to evaluate the functioning of POS machines, real-time stock updates, and overall inventory management. He stressed the need for transparency in sales, accurate digital recording of transactions, and strict adherence to digital monitoring systems to ensure efficient and farmer-friendly service delivery.
Focus on Transparency and Digital Integration
Reviewing district-wise progress under iFMS, Sartaj Ahmad Shah directed officials to ensure seamless integration of field-level operations with the digital platform. He emphasized robust inventory management, precise financial tracking, and enhanced accountability through the system.
Officials Brief Director on Ground Situation
The Director was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam Mohd Iqbal Khan, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Ajaz Hussain Dar, Deputy Director Law Enforcement Kashmir Mujtabba Yahya, Technical Officer Feroz Shapoo, along with other senior officers and field staff.
District officials briefed the Director on the status of the POS network, fertilizer stock availability, and operational challenges faced on the ground.
Call for Strengthened Monitoring
Appreciating the efforts of district teams, the Director instructed officials to further strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely and transparent availability of quality agricultural inputs to farmers across Jammu & Kashmir.
The inspection forms part of ongoing efforts by the Agriculture Department to modernise fertilizer distribution and improve service delivery through digital platforms.
