Srinagar: Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday launched a tree plantation drive from the party headquarters in Srinagar, marking the start of an initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to plant one lakh trees across Jammu & Kashmir.
The campaign, initiated by the party leadership, aims to promote environmental conservation and contribute to a greener and healthier future in the region.
Speaking at the launch, Mufti described the plantation drive as a step towards improving the environment and raising awareness about the importance of tree cover and ecological balance. The initiative is expected to involve party workers and volunteers who will participate in planting saplings in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming months.
Party leaders said the drive will be carried out in phases and is part of broader efforts to encourage community participation in environmental protection. The campaign seeks to mobilise people at the grassroots level to support afforestation and sustainability initiatives across the Union Territory.
