J&K Records Sharp Rise in e-NAM Trade

Ziraat Times Team Report

New Delhi, Feb 11: Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a significant rise in agricultural trade through the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform, with volumes increasing from 9,207 metric tonnes (MT) in 2022–23 to 95,113 MT in 2024–25, according to data shared in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

The information was provided by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, in a written reply. The figures indicate a steady expansion in the Union Territory’s participation in the electronic trading platform over the past three financial years.

As of January 31, 2026, a total of 1.79 crore farmers, including small and marginal farmers, have registered on the e-NAM platform. The online marketplace currently integrates 1,522 mandis across 23 States and 4 Union Territories.

Nationwide, the total volume of agricultural produce traded through e-NAM has risen from 1.85 crore MT in 2022–23 to 2.04 crore MT in 2024–25, reflecting steady growth in digital agricultural marketing. In addition, 32.27 crore units of number-based commodities such as bamboo, betel leaves, coconut, lemon and sweet corn were traded during the last three financial years.

The government periodically reviews the functioning of e-NAM to monitor its performance and penetration among farmers.

The platform provides access to real-time price information, quality assaying of produce, and infrastructure support for cleaning, grading, sorting and packaging. Farmers can locate e-NAM mandis within a 100-kilometre radius, access route maps, and check prevailing prices to make informed selling decisions. The integrated e-payment system ensures timely transfer of payments directly into farmers’ bank accounts.

Additional features include online farmer registration, farm-gate trading, direct participation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), integration with AGMARKNET for price information, and a multilingual mobile application. The e-NAM portal is accessible via web and mobile platforms.

A toll-free helpline (1800-270-0224) has been set up to address user grievances, while two annual training programmes are conducted for farmers and mandi stakeholders. Tutorial videos are also disseminated through social media platforms to promote wider adoption of the online marketplace.
