Srinagar: The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs has announced the completion of the upload window for the UMEED Central Portal, the national platform created for the management and digitisation of Waqf properties across India. The portal, launched by Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on 6 June 2025, officially stopped accepting uploads on 6 December 2025, in line with the provisions of the UMEED Act, 1995 and directives of the Supreme Court.
According to the Ministry, the final days saw a significant surge in activity as states and Union Territories accelerated the submission of property details. A coordinated push through review meetings, workshops, and interventions at senior levels contributed to the momentum.
By the close of the deadline, 5,17,040 Waqf properties had been initiated on the portal. Of these, 2,16,905 properties were approved by designated authorities, while 2,13,941 submissions remained in the pipeline. A total of 10,869 properties were rejected during the verification stage.
To support the nationwide exercise, the Ministry conducted continuous workshops and training programmes for Waqf Boards and Minority Departments in states and UTs. A two-day Master Trainer Workshop in Delhi provided hands-on guidance for the uploading process. Seven zonal meetings were also held, and a dedicated technical helpline was operational throughout the six-month window.
Secretary of Minority Affairs, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, conducted over 20 review meetings to monitor progress, encourage timely submissions and ensure accuracy in uploads. The completion of this phase, the Ministry said, marks a major step toward enhancing transparency, efficiency, and unified digital governance of Waqf assets under the UMEED framework.
