New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation tour of Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from December 15 to 18, following invitations from the leaders of the three countries, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Thursday.

The visit will begin in Jordan from December 15–16, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein. The discussions will cover bilateral relations and regional developments. The ministry noted that the visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Jordan, offering an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and expand partnership in areas of mutual interest.

From December 16–17, Modi will undertake his first State visit to Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali. The two leaders will hold wide-ranging talks on India–Ethiopia relations. The visit is expected to reaffirm the countries’ shared commitment as partners in the Global South and deepen collaboration across sectors.

The final leg of the tour will take the Prime Minister to Oman from December 17–18. This will be Modi’s second visit to the Sultanate. The year also marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Oman. The two sides will review their strategic partnership, which spans trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture and culture. Discussions will also include regional and global issues of mutual concern.

India and Oman last exchanged high-level visits in December 2023, when Sultan Haitham bin Tarik paid a State visit to New Delhi.

The Ministry said the three-country tour will seek to reinforce India’s bilateral ties, explore new areas of cooperation and promote peace and stability in the regions concerned.
