CAIT Kashmir Begins Preparations for Swadeshi Mela 2026

Srinagar: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Kashmir Chapter on Thursday held its first preparatory meeting in Srinagar to plan for the upcoming Swadeshi Mela 2026, scheduled to take place from May 1 to May 4 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The meeting was presided over by CAIT Kashmir President Farhan Kitab.

The chapter reaffirmed its commitment to participate in the national event with full strength, aiming to contribute to what it described as a “grand and historic” showcase of Indian products and enterprises. The Swadeshi Mela, a major national initiative, is expected to feature traders, MSMEs, start-ups, artisans and manufacturers from across the country, along with both domestic and international buyers.

Discussions during the meeting focused on early action points, including ensuring strong representation from Kashmir’s business community and highlighting the event as a major platform to expand the region’s market reach. Members noted that the four-day exhibition would provide international buyers direct access to Swadeshi products and create new business opportunities for participants from Jammu and Kashmir.

The chapter also reviewed the formation of committees for coordination, planning and execution to ensure smooth participation in the event.

Those present at the meeting included President Farhan Kitab, Senior Vice President Umer Mukhtar Bhat, General Secretary Peer Imtiyaz Hassan, Additional General Secretary Sajad Gul, Chief Advisor Imtiyaz Ahmed Qalandar, Media Head and Publicity Chief M. Altaf Dar (Rajbagh), Chief Organiser Imtiyaz Ahmed Malik, Treasurer Parvez Ahmed Bhat, Organiser Mehraj ud Din Ganaie, Muzamil Bacha and other active members. It was unanimously decided that the listed management structure would continue to remain in place for effective functioning of the CAIT Kashmir Chapter.
