Srinagar, Dec 14: More than 8,000 students from across Jammu and Kashmir have participated in the Mega SATHE Scholarship Test organised by Sadam Knowledge Institute of Education (SKIE), making it one of the largest free scholarship examinations conducted in the region.

The second phase of the examination was held on Sunday, December 14, and saw the participation of over 3,000 students. An earlier phase had recorded close to 5,000 candidates, reflecting a strong response from students aspiring for competitive examinations and academic advancement.

According to organisers, students travelled from Srinagar and adjoining areas as well as from remote and far-flung districts to appear for the test, despite challenging winter conditions. The examination was conducted at four centres—Parraypora Main Campus, Soura, Rajbagh and Anantnag.

SKIE officials said arrangements were made at all centres to ensure smooth conduct of the examination, including heating facilities, drinking water, refreshments and other basic amenities. The examination process was supervised by the institute’s director to ensure discipline, transparency and fairness.

Speaking on the occasion, Director SKIE Sadam said the initiative aims to support meritorious students, particularly those from economically weaker backgrounds and remote areas, who are unable to afford coaching fees. He said the scholarship programme is intended to provide equal educational opportunities through access to quality teaching and guidance.

He added that Jammu and Kashmir has considerable academic talent and that structured mentorship can help students secure admissions to leading medical, engineering and other professional institutions across the country.

The organisers stated that the scholarship selection process is entirely merit-based. Details of the scholarship structure were displayed at all examination centres. Students securing between 92 and 100 per cent marks will be eligible for a 100 per cent scholarship, allowing them to pursue studies at SKIE without paying fees.

Students who appeared for the examination reported that the question papers were aligned with the patterns of competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE, helping aspirants assess their preparation. School-level candidates also described the questions as balanced and syllabus-oriented.
