CAIT appoints Farhan J. Kitab to Swadeshi Mela Organising Board

New Delhi, Nov 27: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has appointed Farhan J. Kitab from Jammu & Kashmir as a Member of the Organising Board for the upcoming Swadeshi Mela, scheduled to be held in April 2026.

The appointment follows a meeting of CAIT National Trade Leaders held on November 25 in New Delhi, where Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urged CAIT to organise the country’s biggest-ever Swadeshi Mela. The event is being planned in collaboration with ITPO and several trade and industry bodies to highlight India’s entrepreneurial strength, diversity, and indigenous products.

To steer the initiative, CAIT has constituted a high-level Organising Board chaired by senior industrialist Lion Dr. Ram Gopal Goel of Delhi. The Board will oversee planning, coordination, and execution of the national event.

In a formal communication, CAIT said Kitab’s appointment is in recognition of his “commitment, experience and sustained contribution to the trading community.” The organisation noted that the Swadeshi Mela aims to empower small businesses, promote local industries, and amplify the national campaign of “Vocal for Local.”

CAIT leaders, including National President B.C. Bhartia, National Chairman Brij Mohan Agarwal, and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, emphasised that Kitab’s involvement will be crucial in stakeholder mobilisation and programme development.

The Swadeshi Mela is expected to be a landmark celebration of India’s economic resilience and entrepreneurial energy.
