Srinagar: In a key development for the Valley’s business community, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) on Monday elected its new executive body for the 2025–2027 term during the organisation’s 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Srinagar.
Ex-KCCI president and prominent businessman Javid Ahmad Tenga was unanimously elected as the President of the Chamber, while Umar Nazir Tibet Baqal was chosen as the Senior Vice President. Farooq Amin has been elected as the Junior Vice President, Faiz Bakshi as the Secretary General, Akib Chaya as the Joint Secretary General, and MAmir Manzoor Guna as the Treasurer.
The newly elected executive committee members also formally assumed charge during the session attended by leading entrepreneurs, industrialists, and trade representatives from across Kashmir. The event marked the continuation of KCCI’s longstanding role as the principal representative body of traders and industrialists in the region, an official said while speaking to Ziraat Times.
In his address after assuming office, President Javid Tenga thanked members for their confidence and reaffirmed KCCI’s commitment to promoting economic stability, entrepreneurship, and trade facilitation in Kashmir. He stressed the need for strengthening institutional linkages, improving business policy engagement, and fostering youth participation in the region’s economic growth.
The AGM also reviewed the Chamber’s performance over the past term, highlighting initiatives in trade advocacy, tourism revival, and industrial development. Members emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and business stakeholders to address key challenges, including infrastructural bottlenecks, investment flow, and export support.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and renewed resolve to advance the interests of Kashmir’s trade and industry through transparent, accountable and forward-looking leadership.
