Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday felicitated the winners and top performers of the Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic (ALOHA) State Level Arithmetic Operations Contest held at the University of Kashmir, which saw participation from over 1,500 students across Jammu and Kashmir.
Congratulating the young achievers for their exceptional arithmetic skills, the Lieutenant Governor said that the growth of Jammu and Kashmir is directly linked to the growth of its youth. “They have a mission of transforming J&K and the nation. With resolve and dedication, they can complete this mission. We will ensure they have the right environment to become the most talented scholars, scientists, and innovators,” he said.
Mubashir Aslam Wafai, the pioneer of ALOHA in Jammu & Kashmir, said the contest has brought the best out of J&K future mathematics wizards, and expressed satisfaction on the widespread participation in the contest.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated ALOHA for providing a platform that helps children unlock their potential through mathematical learning and mental agility. “Arithmetic operations are not merely numerical calculations. They are foundations to skills like problem solving, critical thinking, and reasoning. It has far-reaching implications and drives young minds toward innovation, science, and technology,” he noted.
He urged the young generation to chart their own paths and take bold, creative steps in an unpredictable world. “Innovation can’t be achieved by following the beaten track. The youth must be entrepreneurial, adventurous, and think outside the box,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of educational transformation, the Lieutenant Governor called for turning schools into “hubs of curiosity and innovation,” where classrooms serve as “launchpads for dreams and aspirations.”
The event was attended by Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir; Loh Mun Sung, Founder of ALOHA International; Kiran Motwani, Director ALOHA International; Mubashir Aslam Wafai, Director ALOHA J&K; senior officials from civil and police administration, heads of educational institutions, teachers, and students.
