Commerce Minister Meets Export Councils and Business Chambers to Dissuss India’s Export Growth

New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal chaired a high-level meeting with representatives of Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and industry associations at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, on October 29, 2025, to review India’s export performance and discuss upcoming policy reforms aimed at strengthening the country’s trade ecosystem.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Department of Commerce, Department of Revenue, and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), alongside representatives from key industry bodies and export councils.

During the session, officials from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Department of Commerce gave detailed presentations on the major trade and export facilitation reforms implemented during the first half of FY 2025–26. They also shared updates on new measures being planned to boost export competitiveness and streamline processes for Indian exporters.

The discussions covered a range of topics, including export diversification, logistical challenges, market access barriers, and sector-specific policy interventions. Stakeholders provided feedback and outlined their expectations for continued policy support to sustain India’s export momentum.

Representatives from diverse sectors—such as textiles, apparel, engineering goods, gems and jewellery, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, services, telecom, and leather—participated in the meeting. Delegates from leading business bodies including FIEO, EPCH, CII, FICCI, PHDCCI, SIAM, ASSOCHAM, and NASSCOM lauded the ministry’s efforts to build a more enabling environment for trade and investment.

They appreciated the government’s proactive approach in addressing exporters’ concerns and in expanding India’s footprint across global markets.

In his remarks, Mr Goyal reiterated the government’s resolve to create a facilitative trade ecosystem through ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing ease of doing business and improving global market access for Indian exporters.

He urged all stakeholders to continue working collaboratively to achieve India’s long-term trade and export growth objectives, emphasizing innovation, competitiveness, and diversification as key drivers of future success.
