PHDCCI Kashmir and NCCD plan to hold ‘Cold Chain Conclave’ in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 3: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir held an interactive meeting with Asheesh Fotedar,  Chief Operating Officer (COO), National Centre For Cold-Chain Development (NCCD); Ministry Of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The meeting was Chaired by Vicky Shaw, Chair PHDCCI Kashmir chapter,  and attended by other EC members – Himayu Wani,  Bilal Bhat, Ubair Shah, Mukhtar Khan, Er Fayaz Bhat, Haleem Bhat and Deputy Director PHDCCI J&K chapter Er Iqbal Fayaz Jan.

The meeting involved a thorough discussion about the necessity of improving the cold chain infrastructure for apple produce, thereby enhancing the CA supply chain management system in the state.
The COO and the PHD Chamber of Commerce members also discussed organising national-level Jammu and Kashmir Cold Chain Conclave. This event will aim to bring together the key players from the cold storage industry along with the private and public players, to work towards developing and strengthening the state’s cold chain infrastructure and understanding the skill set required for cold storage.

The meeting concluded with a decision to begin capacity building for human resources that specialize in cold storage technology, which in-turn will uplift the levels of skill required in the state for these industries. This comprehensive plan will ensure that Jammu and Kashmir develops a well-functioning, high-quality cold chain industry, and this will be of great benefit to all the stakeholders involved while fulfilling the demand for essential commodities. The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is ready to lead the way for the positive development of this important industry in UT of J&K.

To facilitate outreach, awareness, and capacity building, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between the National Cold Chain Development and PHDCCI. The MOU will focus on skill development of human resources and the overall capacity building of CA storage facilities across J&K.

The Horticulture, Agriculture and agribussiness Committee of PHDCCI Kashmir headed by Mr Ubair and Mr Fayaz will work in close coordination with NCCD to facilitate and will build the future demand for CA storage facilities in J&K.
