Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has secured its 11th patent of the year 2024, bringing the total number of patents acquired over the past four years to 26.
The latest patent, titled “SHALIMAR HIVE-3 (SH-3),” has been granted to Dr. Muneer Sofi on an innovation in bee hive development. The patent application number 202111054661 was filed on November 26, 2021.
“This accomplishment is a testament to the university’s commitment to innovation and aligns with its vision of becoming an “innovation-led farm University”, Dr Nazir Ganaie, SKUAST Kashmir vice chancellor told Ziraat Times.
The SHALIMAR HIVE-3 (SH-3) represents a another advancement in agricultural technology. This invention, if feasible for commercial scale production and field adoption, is expected have a substantial impact on beekeeping practices, enhancing productivity and sustainability in this sector.
“SKUAST-K’s vision of becoming an innovation-driven agricultural university is being realized through continuous efforts in research and development. The achievement of securing 26 patents over four years is a clear indicator of the university’s dedication to innovation”, Dr Nazir told Ziraat Times.
These patents cover various aspects of agricultural sciences, showcasing the university’s broad expertise and focus on practical solutions for the farming community, he said.
