Finally, good news: Snowfall to start in Kashmir this week. Here is ZT outlook.

Ziraat Times Weather Outlook

Srinagar, Jan 25: After weeks of prayers and long wait, season’s first good snowfall is likely in Kashmir valley, Chenab and Upper Pirpanjal valleys, Kargil-Zanaskar regions and upper parts of Ladakh starting this Friday.

Based on the analysis of multiple weather data by Ziraat Times, three weather systems of varying intensity are likely to pass over J&K over the next 10 days, resulting in moderate to heavy snowfall on Pirpanjal, Zanskar and Himalayan ranges and light to moderate snowfall in the plains of Kashmir valley.

Here is the detailed outlook for 26 – 29 January. Farmers are advised to plan their orchard and other farming activities accordingly:

Friday – 26 Jan: While a few plain areas in Kashmir are likely to exprience light rainfall, Karewa areas and Pirpanjal mountain range would receive snowfall. North Kashmir upper areas, including Bangus valley, Sadhna Pass, Razdan Pass, upper Kishtwar, Upper Doda and Upper Bhaderwah areas are likely to witness some snowfall.

Saturday – 27 Jan: Most areas on Saturday would most likely have no precipitation. A few upper South Kashmir areas may receive some snowfall late in the day.

Sunday 28 January and Monday, 29 January: While mountains and upper Karewa areas would experience intermittently good snowfall, several areas in South and North Kashmir would also  receive moderate snowfall during these two days.

Tuesday, 30 Jan: Most parts of Kashmir valley and upper Chenab valley areas, mainly Upper Kishtwar, Upper Bhaderwah areas, Wadwan and Kargil-Zanaskar areas, would receive good snowfall on Tuesday.

South Kashmir including Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, particularly Verinag, Pahalgam, Kulgam, Damhal Hanjipora, Kapran, Shopian, Pir ki Gali, Bafliaz areas, Chenab, Upper Pirpanchal areas, Kargil, Drass, Zanaskar and parts of Ladakh are also likely to experience light to moderate  snowfall on Tuesday.

While snowfall is likely to continue beyond 30th January in several areas of J&K, due to lack of credible data and information at this stage, Ziraat Times would issue a separate outlook for that period over the weekend.

Note: Ziraat Times issues weather forecasts/outlooks in the interest of farmers and the general public to address the need for specific and detailed geographical forecasts. ZT forecasts are based on the analysis of multiple weather data – including cloud movement models associated with the westerly jet and localized cloud formation, temperature and wind speed differential models within J&K and surrounding regions, past weather patterns and traditional knowledge. It may be noted that we do not rely on online weather portals for their predictions and, therefore, we avoid issuing long and medium term forecasts, which are mostly unreliable.

While maximum care is taken in generating this information, and most times our forecasts are accurate; at times, the forecast might not go as anticipated. We advise discretion in using this information.
