Srinagar: Amid unabated surge in Covid-19 cases and mortality in Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir division is facing an acute shortage of vaccines as not a single person was vaccinated in the Valley today (Sunday) while at least 8750 people received the vaccine jabs in Jammu division.

As per the data available with the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), no person was vaccinated in any district of Kashmir division on Sunday, while, on the other hand, 8,750 persons were vaccinated in the Jammu division.

The available data indicates that till date 2,814,272 doses of vaccine have been administered in J&K, which includes 1,335,954 in Kashmir division and 1,478,318 in Jammu division.

The non-availability of vaccines in Kashmir has created a wave of anxiety among the people, as there are reported shortages of both Covishield and Covaxin vaccines for the last several days.

Pertinently, in the last four days, only 818 doses have been administered in Kashmir, while during this period around 40,000 doses have been administered in the Jammu division.

Notably, there are over 51 thousand active cases in J&K as of date.

J&K administration has repeatedly claimed that there is no shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in the Union Territory.
