Will Cyclone Tauktae impact J&K? Here is Ziraat Times outlook

Ziraat Times Exclusive

Srinagar: As cyclone Tauktae is all set to cross Gujarat coast in Bhavnagar district on Tuesday morning, one particular question being asked on social media platforms is this: would the cyclone enter J&K?

Here is ZT outlook

Multiple weather data, including super compuer generated models, studied by Ziraat Times indicate that the cyclone will not enter J&K.

After its entry into Gujarat on Tuesday morning, where the cyclone is likely to have maximum impact, the current trend of wind direction indicates it will take a north-easterly path and not impact J&K.

Will the cyclone impact J&K’s neighbouring states like Himachal and Punjab?

After Gujarat, the cyclone will travel northwards towards Rajasthan on Wednesday. Thereafter it is likely to weaken and result in heavy rainfall and moderate dusty winds in Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Some rains may also occur in Punjab.

However, from Himachal Pradesh it is likely to turn easterly and enter China and avoid Jammu & Kashmir.

Is there any rain/snow forecast for J&K coming week?

Yes. Owing to a separate Western Disturbance entering J&K on Friday and Saturday, medium to heavy snowfall is likely across J&K mountains and heavy rainfall in Kashmir valley plains and lower areas of Pirpanjal and Chenab valleys.
