Srinagar: A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK), headed by President Tariq Ghani, met with Chief Secretary Atal Dullo at the Civil Secretariat today to discuss pressing issues affecting Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the CCIK apprised the Chief Secretary of several urgent concerns, highlighting the recent discovery of rotten food items in the valley, particularly meat and chicken. The delegation called for strict action against individuals involved in selling such products. They urged authorities to name and shame those responsible to deter further malpractice and safeguard the interests of the broader business community.
President Ghani emphasized the necessity of continuing raids on businesses selling rotten meat until the practice is completely banned. He further raised concerns over other consumable food items, including bakery products, citing complaints from the public about expired goods and unsanitary bakery practices.
The CCIK also requested action against vendors selling fake drugs and substandard milk, stressing that those compromising the quality of essential commodities should not be spared. Additionally, the issue of rising rents at government marriage halls was brought to the Chief Secretary’s attention, as increased costs have made them unaffordable for common people.
Chief Secretary Atal Dullo gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that all issues raised would be considered seriously and taken up with relevant authorities to protect the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
President Tariq Ghani expressed gratitude to Mr. Dullo for his responsiveness and concern for the wellbeing of citizens.
