Commissioner Secretary urges local enterprises to integrate into national supply chains
Srinagar, Aug 4: A two-day Vendor Development Programme organised by the MSME Development Facilitation Office (DFO), Jammu & Kashmir, began at the NIELIT campus in Rangreth, Budgam, on Tuesday, bringing together micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) to facilitate procurement linkages and business opportunities.
Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Vikramjit Singh, who was the chief guest at the inaugural session, urged local entrepreneurs to make full use of the platform by engaging with participating CPSEs, understanding their procurement requirements and integrating into national supply chains.
Describing the programme as an opportunity for local businesses, Singh said it would help MSMEs better understand government procurement procedures and build long-term business relationships with public sector enterprises under the Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs.
During his visit, the Commissioner Secretary inspected exhibition stalls set up by participating MSMEs and interacted with entrepreneurs. He also visited stalls of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) members, including Hyacinth, JK Technos, Virgin Himalayas and Shalimar Engineering.
The event was attended by a PHDCCI delegation led by its Chairman, A.P. Vicky Shaw, and Co-Chair, Himayu Wani, who highlighted the importance of strengthening linkages between local MSMEs and central public sector enterprises.
According to the organisers, the programme is being conducted under the supervision of Joint Director, MSME Development Facilitation Office, J&K and Ladakh, Amit Tamaria (IEDS), along with Assistant Directors Tariq and Sahel Allaqaband of the Srinagar branch.
The programme aims to promote effective implementation of the Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs by providing direct interaction with procurement agencies, familiarising entrepreneurs with Government e-Marketplace (GeM) tendering procedures and facilitating business partnerships.
The first day of the programme featured participation from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), NHPC, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
On the second day, scheduled for August 5, representatives from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Border Security Force (BSF), Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Jammu & Kashmir Mineral Development Corporation (JKMDC) are expected to interact with participating MSMEs.
Organisers said the inaugural day witnessed extensive networking and interactions between entrepreneurs and procurement agencies, with higher participation expected on the concluding day.
