Srinagar, July 28: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has prohibited the manufacture and sale of milk and milk products at a food business unit in Pulwama after an inspection revealed serious deficiencies in hygiene and sanitation.
According to officials, the action followed an inspection conducted by the Food Safety Officer, Pampore, at a unit operating in Talangam village of Pulwama district. The premises, owned by S. Maqbool was found to be functioning under insanitary conditions, violating the hygiene and sanitary requirements laid down under Schedule IV of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
Based on the findings of the inspection, the Designated Officer, Food Safety, ordered an immediate prohibition on the manufacture and sale of milk and milk products from the premises, citing concerns over public health and safety.
Officials said the proprietor has been directed not to resume operations until all prescribed corrective measures are implemented and full compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and related rules and regulations is ensured.

The latest action is part of the FDA’s ongoing enforcement drive aimed at ensuring food safety standards and protecting consumers across Jammu & Kashmir.
