Budgam, June 28: A two-day Theatre Conference, organized by Ferooz Cultural Forum, Badipora, Chadoora, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, concluded at Nilnag in Chadoora, drawing participation from theatre artists, writers, scholars, poets and local residents.
The conference began with a welcome address by Gh. Nabi Yatoo. On the opening day, Ferooz Cultural Forum staged the play “Chand Tchoor”, written by Sheikh Haneef, which received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
The second day featured a technical session presided over by M. Amin Bhat. The chief guest on the occasion was Abdul Rahim Rather, who is also MLA Chrar-i-Sharief.
Among those present were Shad Ramzan, Shamshad Kralwari, Azhar Hajni, Haris Shafi and Wasim Sajad.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Shakir Shafi, while the keynote paper was presented by Majid Majazi. The paper was discussed by Hasan Javid, Rouf Aadil, Syed Iftikhar, Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, Mushtaq Ali Khan and Abdul Rashid Hanjoora. The speakers shared their views on theatre, literature, language and the preservation of Kashmir’s cultural heritage.
Several honours were conferred during the conference. The Dr. Aziz Hajni Award was presented to Gulzar Ganie, while the Ashraf Mir Award was awarded to Ali Mohammad Sheerazi. A posthumous Certificate of Recognition was presented in memory of Abdul Ahad Gulshan. The Shan-e-Budgam Award was conferred on Shagufta Rather in recognition of her contributions.
The event also saw the release of two books authored by Reshi Rashid and Sheikh Haneef.
The proceedings were conducted by Gulzar Nazki. The vote of thanks was presented by Rafiq Ahmad Dar and Ferooz Cultural Forum President Shabir Ahmad Yatoo, who thanked the guests, participants, supporters and audience for contributing to the success of the event.
Officials said adequate security arrangements were made by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, ensuring the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of the conference.
