e-NAM: 1,656 Mandis Integrated, ₹4.84 Lakh Crore Trade Recorded by March 2026

Ziraat Times News Desk

Srinagar: The Government’s National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform has emerged as a major force in transforming agricultural trade in India, with 1,656 mandis integrated across 23 States and 4 Union Territories by March 2026. The platform has enabled cumulative trade worth ₹4.84 lakh crore since its launch in 2016, reflecting rapid expansion in digital agricultural marketing.

By March 2026, the e-NAM ecosystem had registered over 1.80 crore farmers, 2.73 lakh traders, and 4,724 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). The growing participation base underscores deeper market integration and wider adoption of digital trading systems across the country.

Expanding digital agricultural trade network

The platform recorded a cumulative movement of 13.25 crore metric tonnes of agricultural produce between 2016 and March 2026, with 204.76 lakh metric tonnes traded in recent periods, indicating sustained operational momentum.

Trade values have also shown a sharp rise, increasing from ₹3.19 lakh crore in 2024 to ₹4.84 lakh crore in 2026, reflecting stronger market engagement and expanding digital transactions in agricultural commodities.

Price discovery and market transparency

e-NAM currently covers 247 commodities under its mobile-based price information services, allowing farmers and traders to access real-time market data and make informed decisions. The platform has significantly strengthened transparent price discovery and reduced dependency on traditional localized mandi systems.

Integrated digital ecosystem

Launched in 2016, e-NAM has evolved into a multi-layered digital ecosystem comprising a web portal, mobile application, AI-enabled services, and a grievance redressal system. It enables end-to-end trading functions including:

  • Digital gate entry and lot creation

  • Quality assaying and grading

  • Online bidding and real-time price discovery

  • Direct electronic payments to farmers

The platform also features a live dashboard offering real-time data on trade volumes, commodity prices, and inter-state trade flows.

Key features and services

The e-NAM system now provides:

  • Single-window trading for mandi operations

  • Unique lot tracking from entry to sale

  • Inter-state trade through unified licensing

  • Secondary trading of already sold lots

  • 12-language accessibility interface

Mobile platform and “Platform of Platforms”

The e-NAM mobile app, launched in 2016, has expanded access to market information and trading services for stakeholders across regions. A major enhancement came in July 2022 with the introduction of the Platform of Platforms (PoP), integrating logistics, warehousing, financial services, insurance, advisory tools, and private agri-markets into a single interface.

Financial integration and e-payment system

The platform’s e-payment system enables direct transfer of sale proceeds to farmers’ bank accounts through NEFT, RTGS, and UPI. This has reduced dependence on intermediaries while improving financial inclusion and transaction transparency.

Integration with warehouse receipts

The integration of Electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (e-NWRs) with e-NAM has strengthened post-harvest management by allowing farmers to store produce in accredited warehouses and trade digitally without physical movement to mandis. This has reduced logistics costs, minimized distress sales, and enabled access to institutional credit.
