Zojila Avalanche Death Toll Rises to 7; One Person Still Missing

Ganderbal: The death toll in the avalanche at Zoji La Pass has risen to seven after one of the injured persons succumbed to injuries and another body was recovered on Sunday morning, officials said.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, the avalanche had initially left five people dead, two missing and four injured when it struck the area earlier.

Police said one of the injured later died during treatment, while rescue teams recovered another body from the avalanche site this morning, taking the confirmed toll to seven.

Authorities added that one person remains untraced. However, officials clarified that the missing status is still being verified as rescue and search operations continue in the area.

The avalanche occurred along the strategic mountain pass connecting Kashmir with Ladakh, where rescue teams and local authorities have been working to locate those affected by the incident.
