Sub-Office for BSNL Pensioners Planned in Srinagar

Ziraat Times News Desk

Srinagar, Mar 14: A new initiative aimed at improving services for telecom pensioners was launched in Kashmir with officials interacting directly with retired employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to address their concerns and welfare issues.

The Pensioners Outreach Programme (POP) was recently held in Ganderbal district, where senior officials from the communications accounts department visited the homes of BSNL pensioners to understand the challenges they face and ensure better service delivery.

The outreach was led by Ashish Joshi, Principal Controller of Communication Accounts (Pr. CCA), North Zone, who was accompanied by Raj Karan Verma, Controller of Communication Accounts (CCA) J&K, and Amanullah Tak, Joint CCA J&K. During the visits, officials enquired about the welfare of pensioners and listened to their grievances.

Sub-office planned in Srinagar

As part of efforts to improve accessibility of services for BSNL pensioners in Kashmir, officials also held a meeting on March 12 with the Chief General Manager of the J&K Circle of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited to identify space for setting up a sub-office of the CCA in Srinagar.

Authorities said suitable space has already been identified and the proposed sub-office is expected to start functioning after the required approvals are obtained.

Weekly grievance redressal till office opens

Until the new office becomes operational, the Pr. CCA North Zone, in consultation with the CCA J&K and the BSNL J&K Circle, has decided that an officer from the CCA office in Jammu will visit Srinagar on a weekly basis.

The visiting officer will meet BSNL pensioners at a designated location provided by the telecom company to address their grievances and provide assistance.

Officials appreciate local coordination

Joshi appreciated the efforts of officials involved in facilitating the initiative, including Kush Kumar, Chief General Manager of BSNL J&K Circle, and Arvind Pandey, Principal General Manager Kashmir, for supporting the outreach programme.

He said the proposed sub-office in Srinagar would help resolve the issues faced by BSNL pensioners in the Kashmir region more efficiently.

Part of citizen-centric governance initiative

Officials said the outreach programme is part of the “Seva Sankalp” Resolution adopted by the Union Cabinet of India on February 24, 2026, at Seva Teerth, the new Prime Minister’s Office complex.

The resolution aims to promote a citizen-centric governance culture focused on service, transparency and accountability, guided by the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava”, which emphasises prioritising the needs of citizens and simplifying public services.
