Ladakh Directs Drivers to Wear Traditional Attire to Promote Local Culture

Leh: The administration of Ladakh has issued a circular directing all commercial drivers operating across the Union Territory to wear traditional Ladakhi attire while on duty in a move aimed at promoting local culture and enhancing tourists’ experience.

The directive applies to drivers providing transport services in both districts of Leh and Kargil. It covers a wide range of commercial vehicles, including taxis, buses, tempo travellers, trucks, mini trucks, 207 vehicles and other transport services operating in the region.

According to the circular, the initiative has been introduced to showcase Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage and create a more distinctive and culturally immersive environment for visitors travelling across the region.

Authorities have asked all concerned drivers and transport operators to comply with the directive with immediate effect.
