Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday assured residents that there is sufficient fuel stock available in the Union Territory and urged people not to resort to panic buying or unnecessary storage of petrol and diesel.
Addressing concerns over fuel availability, the Chief Minister said the administration is closely monitoring supplies and that there is no shortage at present. He appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities and purchase fuel only as needed.
However, Abdullah issued a strong warning that if panic buying continues, he may be compelled to take strict measures, including temporarily shutting down petrol pumps for a few days to control the situation and stabilise supply.
Officials said the appeal was aimed at preventing artificial shortages caused by hoarding and long queues at fuel stations reported in some areas. The administration has urged citizens to remain calm and rely on official updates rather than rumours.
