16 candidates from J&K qualify Civil Services Examination 2025. Here is the list

Srinagar, March 6: Sixteen candidates from Jammu & Kashmir have successfully cleared the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), securing ranks across the merit list and marking a notable achievement for the Union Territory in one of India’s most competitive examinations.

According to the results announced by the UPSC, Suvan Sharma secured the highest rank among candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, placing 148th in the all-India merit list. He was followed by Towseef Ahmad Ganaie, who secured Rank 254, and Ritika Bhan, who obtained Rank 456.

The other successful candidates from the Union Territory include Sooyash Raj Shivam (Rank 572), Muneeb Afzal Parrah (Rank 581), Ghulam Maya Din (Rank 683), Dwarka Gaadhi (Rank 721), Akash Jaggi (Rank 747), Koh-E-Safa (Rank 763), Yassar Ahmed Bhatti (Rank 811), Abhishek Kumar Dhyawana (Rank 820), Pankaj Kumar (Rank 856), Mohammad Ajaz-ul-Rehman (Rank 869), Azhar Asif Khan (Rank 886), Mohammad Sarfraz Choudhary (Rank 936) and Irfan Ahmad Lone (Rank 957).

The Civil Services Examination, conducted annually by the UPSC, is considered one of the most challenging competitive examinations in India. Successful candidates are selected for prestigious services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and several other central services.

Educationists and civil service mentors in the region have described the success of these candidates as encouraging for aspirants across Jammu & Kashmir, noting that the number of qualifiers reflects a growing interest among young people from the region in public service and governance.

The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination in three stages—Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test (Interview)—with candidates finally ranked based on their combined performance in the Main examination and interview.

Officials and civil society groups from across Jammu & Kashmir have congratulated the successful candidates and wished them success in their future roles in public administration.
